North Fork Kings River Country

North Fork Kings River 1

ABOVE: Fish form rings on pond-like meadowed placid Fleming Lake, attracting fishermen and horse-packers.

Fleming Lake

Anyone coming up from below might be tempted after the long hike to stay at Fleming Lake, not knowing about the better camping above at Rae Lake or Lower Indian Lake. Fleming Lake is the first opening up of views if you are coming from the endless forest below, and the last great landmark if you are heading down the trail.

This ends the great tour of the upper basins of the North Fork of the Kings River, a region visited by few people, but offering examples of all of the best the Sierra Nevada has to offer.
